A habitual offender with a long history of property crimes across several police station limits in Cyberabad was arrested by the Miyapur police on Saturday (November 15).
The accused, identified as Upthala Anand, 35, a tractor driver and resident of New Hafeezpet, was taken into custody after investigators matched his physical features with those captured in a recent theft near a bar and restaurant on Allwyn X roads.
The accused was found to be involved in 25 cases in Miyapur, Chandanagar, RC Puram, Ameenpur, Bachupally, Rajendranagar, Patancheru and Shadnagar.
The arrest followed a complaint by a private employee from Madeenaguda regarding a theft in the early hours of November 12.
The police noted that the accused was earlier detained under the Security Detention Act due to his consistent involvement in non-bailable offences. Further investigation of the cases is ongoing.
