Senior constable stabbed near Mehkri circle; the police launched a search for the attacker

A police constable was allegedly stabbed by a man near Mekhri Circle in the early hours of Sunday.

The injured was identified as Vijay Rathod, head constable attached to DJ Halli police station. According to the police, the incident took place shortly after midnight when Rathod, who was traveling on his scooter, stopped near Mekhri Circle after spotting a man allegedly causing public nuisance.

“When the head constable stopped to check the situation, the suspect suddenly attacked him with a knife before fleeing the scene,” said a senior police officer.

Rathod sustained injuries in the attack and was taken to hospital. His condition is listed as stable.

The RT Nagar police have registered a case and launched a search for the armed man.
