Science fest ‘Avishkar’, Ramanujan Spark Quest gets overwhelming response

The Hindu Science Festival ‘Avishkar’ and Math Olympiad 2026 (Ramanujan Spark Quest) saw an overwhelming response as more than 400 students participated in the event in Hubballi on Saturday.

Held at Hebsur Bhavan in Hubballi, the event was organized by The Hindu in association with Excellent Moodubidire. It witnessed innovative science models and projects designed and exhibited by students from schools across the region, primarily from Hubballi-Dharwad.

Inaugurating the event, former MLA Kundgol Mallikarjun Akki urged the students to prepare for the competition by equipping themselves with required skills. Terming The Hindu as the most trusted newspaper, he praised the newspaper’s initiative in organizing the event.

While presenting the awards, Swarnaa Group of Companies CEO Ch.VSV Prasad said that a bright mind would give a person a beautiful life as it helps him to solve so many problems in life.

“Along with studies, you should also have all-round growth and development. You should excel in sports. You should excel in all other extra-curricular activities,” Mr. Prasad told the students.

He said that more than winning, participating in the event and understanding one’s abilities is important as this will help one to correct oneself and focus one’s efforts in the right direction.

He thanked The Hindu for providing a platform to young minds.

The winners

Thejas P. Mangalore and Yash A. Thakur, students of Class X from JK English Medium School, Hubballi, and Jayanth R. Deshpande and Atharva Phadnis, students of Class VIII from Bhavadeepa English Medium School, Hubballi, bagged the first prizes in the Senior and Junior categories respectively.

In the senior category, Mohammed Faiz Govinkoppa and Sheesh Bijapur of KLE MR Sakhare CBSE School, Hubballi won the second prize and MD Yash Badami and Mustqeem M. Khazi of DK Public School, Hubballi won the third prize.

In the Junior category, Divyanshi B. Sharma and Hifza M. Kolachi of St. Paul’s School won the second prize and Vikas Nagesh Mamadi and Sayyed Ali K. Makandar of St. Paul’s English Medium School won the third prize.
