Agriculture Minister T. Siddique said that children should be brought into the modern knowledge-driven world. He inaugurated the Wayanad district-level ‘Pravesanotsavam’ (school reopening festival) on Monday (June 1) at Government High School, Perikkalloor.
“The education period should be transformed into a phase that nurtures children with love, care and inclusion while preparing them to be part of the knowledge-based world,” the minister said. Mr. Siddique said schools should become spaces that spread happiness. “Children, who are the future, should learn with joy and enthusiasm. As they grow up, there will be occasions when they will have to say ‘no’. They must develop the confidence to reject what is wrong and protect themselves from unwanted influences,” he said.
The minister emphasized the need for teachers and parents to work together to ensure that no child, including those from tribal areas, is left out of the school system.
Referring to the construction of Bairakuppa Bridge, Mr. Siddique said that under the leadership of MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, efforts were being made to implement the project without adversely affecting the forest ecosystem.
IC Balakrishnan, MLA presided. Wayanad district panchayat president Chandrika Krishnan and Mullankolly grama panchayat president Lissy Sabu attended.
