The writer Sarah Joseph was chosen for the Literary Prize of Kozhikode Corporation for recognition of her overall contribution to Malaysian literature. The award was introduced by the civic authority after Kozhikode was marked in 2024 by Kozhikode.
The literary award bears the money price of 1 lakh, memento and quotation and will be formally handed over to Sarah Josephová for an event that will be held here in mid -August.
At the press meeting held here on Friday (August 1, 2025), the mayor of Been Philip announced the prizes to writers in various categories. The novelist R. Rajasree was selected for the category of women for her work Aathreyakam. Santhosh Aechikkanam’s Misaru won in the category of children’s literature, while Adarsh E (Aadi) received the Young Writer Award for his collection of Pennappan.
In the category of translation from Kannada to Malayalam, Tejo-Tungabhadra J. Gopalakrishnana was selected for the prize. The greatest Malaysian stories ever told by Thomas in the category of translation from Malayalam into other languages. The winners in each of the five categories will receive a cash price of 25,000 GBP, memento and citation.
Only works published from 1 January 2022 and 31 were considered. May 2025. For the category of young writers, the selection was limited to the authors from Kozhikode to encourage local talent, Mrs. Philip said.
The winner selected a three -member panel with the heads of the category, including prof. S. Sivadase (Children’s Literature), Shahina K. Rafeeq (Women), UK Kumaran (Total Posts), Dr. Radhika C. Nair (translations to Malayalam) and Prof. Nagesh.
Last year, the late writer MT Vasudevan Nair was awarded the Diamond Jubilee Award Kozhikode Corporation.
