
Up to 3,556 cases of salad dressings have been recalled by Ventura Foods LLC across the United States. Salad dressings that have been recalled from retailers such as Costco and Publix due to the presence of “foreign objects” in them, according to a Food and Drug Administration report.
When examining salad dressings, the company found “black plastic planting material” in the granulated onion ingredient. The salad dressings were sold at 42 locations across the United States.

Today.com quoted a Hidden Valley Ranch spokesperson as saying, “No Hidden Valley Ranch products sold in stores to consumers are included in the voluntary recall. Professional Hidden Valley Original Buttermilk Ranch Dressing & Dip (one gallon size), intended exclusively for food service use and never distributed, was included in a voluntary product recall initiated by Ventura Foods, a third-party partner.”
What was in the Costco recall notice?
Costco, a warehouse club in the United States, also issued a recall notice to its customers regarding salad dressings that were recalled due to foreign objects. In its announcement, it urged its customers who purchased the flagged salad dressings to “stop eating” them immediately and return them for a full refund.
It read: “Costco and Ventura Foods are announcing a recall of select sell-by dates for Item #19927 Caesar Salad and Item #11444 Chicken Caesar Salad due to the possible presence of plastic foreign material in the items’ salad dressing. Affected products are marked with Sell By Dates between 25/25/10, please stop eating and return the item to your local Costco for a full refund.”
