The operator of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), announced on Saturday, October 25, 2025 that Terminal 1 witnessed a temporary glitch in its baggage systems, which were later normalized to resume operations.
“We experienced a brief minor glitch in part of the baggage system at Terminal 1,” DIAL said in a post on social media platform X on Saturday.
According to a post shared at 11:21 am (IST) on Saturday, the Delhi airport operator said that teams have successfully worked with stakeholders to resolve the baggage system issue.
“Our teams have been working closely with all parties involved and operations are now back to normal,” they said in a post. The airport operator also said it regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers who faced problems due to the temporary glitch.
IndiGo Advisory
India’s largest airline operator IndiGo said in a social media post that a baggage belt problem at Delhi airport’s Terminal 1 is likely to result in longer waiting times for passengers waiting for their bags at the baggage check-in and claim section.
“Due to a temporary issue with the baggage belt at Delhi Airport, Terminal T1, customers may experience slightly longer waiting times at baggage check-in and baggage claim,” IndiGo said in a post.
The airline said the company’s teams are working with airport partners to quickly resolve the issue and help customers have a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
“Our teams are on the ground and working quickly with airport partners to resolve the situation and assist customers throughout the process. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore smooth and trouble-free travel,” the airline said in a statement.
Delhi International Airport has three terminals — Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. However, Terminal 1 and 2 are reserved for domestic flights only.
Delhi Terminal 2 Update
On Friday 24 October 2025, Air India, owned by the Tata Group, announced that from 26 October 2025, some flights will operate from Terminal 2 (T2) at Delhi International Airport.
Mint had earlier reported that the airline’s move comes as the company seeks to improve terminal management amid ongoing operational adjustments.
“60 of the 180 daily domestic flights will be shifted to Terminal 2 (T2) and all international flights will continue to operate from T3,” Air India said in its announcement.
Air India has advised passengers traveling to and from Delhi to check and check their flight details before arriving at the airport to plan their journey carefully.
