Ruben Amorim stands firmly on his football philosophy despite the catastrophic beginning of Manchester United, including the defeat of the 3-0 derby for the city. As the results get worse, the pressure on INEOS decides whether to strike or throw it away.
The Manchester United crisis deepened after a bruise of 3-0 defeats to Manchester City’s opponents, but Ruben Amori manager refused to avoid his philosophy. The Portuguese boss insists that his game model is not a problem, even if the results are still falling apart.
The beginning of United to the 2025/26 season was daunting, with only four points from their opening four games. The loss of derby only added to the assembly frustration around Old Trafford, where patience with Amorim’s government is thin.
“I will do everything I can for a person United. This is my message to fans. I suffer more than them. I will not change my philosophy. If Ineos wants it to change it must change the manager.”
“I won’t change. On the day I want to change my philosophy, that’s the day I will do it – otherwise you will have to change the manager. I don’t believe the system is a problem, I will play my own way.”
AMORIM in trouble
Amorim’s stubborn attitude comes against a worrying background. The defeat of the city sentenced United to their worst league start in 33 years and had them stuck in the lower half of the table.
The numbers emphasize the extent of the bankruptcy: Since Amorim took the lead in November 2024, United scored only 31 points out of 31 games with -13 goal difference. Its 26% victory ratio is the lowest of any United administrator since World War II.
Their struggles go beyond the Premier League. United disintegrated from the Carabao Cup embarrassing fashion after losing a shootout for a League Two Side Grimsby Town. They also failed to score at 13 of their last 31 league trips and found a net only 36 times.
Derby re -exposed the bay between United and their opponents. Phil Foden’s header opened scoring before Erling Haaland twice struck to complicate suffering, with the cruise of the city, while the Amorim Party offered a small answer.
With just one victory in their last 20 league games against the traditional “Big Six”, the problems of United under Amorim are glaring. Ineos is now facing a defining decision – follow the manager’s philosophy or change the man.
– ends
