Offering timely support to Mumbai Indians ahead of their clash with Gujarat Titans, Rohit Sharma returned to the nets and showed flashes of his signature ‘Hitman’ touch. With MI desperate to stop a four-match losing streak, the visuals have sparked optimism among fans.
Rohit suffered a hamstring injury during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and was subsequently ruled out of clash against Punjab Kings. At the time, captain Hardik Pandya hinted that the opener might miss a few matches, adding to MI’s worries during the tough phase.

However, a recent training video released by the franchise showed Rohit back in the nets, hitting the ball cleanly and with authority. The footage quickly attracted attention and fans hoped it signaled a return to form and fitness at a time when the team needed it most.

Despite the encouraging signs, the franchise maintained a cautious approach. Rohit remains under close observation, with the final call on his availability expected after the final practice before the match.
“Rohit is firing in the nets in Ahmedabad and continues to be assessed by the medical team and Mahela Jayawardene, the head coach,” MI said in an official statement.
WILL ROHIT SHARMA PLAY VS GT?
In his absence, MI have flipped the batting order and brought in Quinton de Kock to open alongside Ryan Rickelton. De Kock made an immediate impact, scoring a brilliant 112 against Punjab Kings, while Rickelton’s form dipped after a strong start with scores of 9, 8, 37 and 2 after an opening match of 81.
If Rohit is declared fit, he is likely to slot back in at the top alongside de Kock, which could further strengthen MI’s batting unit. The former India captain has scored 137 runs from four matches this season at an average of 45.67 and a strike rate of 165.06 as he missed the encounter with PBKS.
With just one win from five matches and sitting at the bottom of the table, Mumbai Indians are in dire need of a turnaround. Rohit’s return, fit and form, could be the spark they’ve been waiting for.
