Rising summer temperatures appear to be taking a toll on Kottayam’s birds, with the latest survey revealing a sharp decline in the city’s bird diversity this year.
A study led by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) involving bird watchers, experts and young naturalists recorded only 31 bird species this year compared to 47 species identified last year.
