
Republic Day 2026: India will commemorate its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026 when the Constitution of India will be adopted. The Constitution of India was made on the same day in January 1950 after the nation gained independence from the British rulers.
For the uninitiated, India first celebrated its Republic Day on January 26, 1951.

As citizens across India celebrate the national holiday with pride and honour, the celebration begins with the iconic Republic Day parade at the Kartavya Trail near India Gate in New Delhi. This year, President Draupadi Murmu will hoist the national flag. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial to begin the ceremony.
Every year, a few Indians make it to the national capital to witness the parade. Those who will not be able to travel can enjoy the parade live from the comfort of their homes.

The Republic Day Parade will be telecast on Monday 26 January 2026 on Doordarshan. It will also be telecast live on Doordarshan’s official YouTube channel. In addition, the show will be telecast live on the YouTube channel of All India Radio and on the official government website. The event will also be telecast live on major news channels in India.
The procession will start at 9.30 am at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, with live coverage from 10.30 am. The entrance gates will open at 7 o’clock.
Ticket prices for the Republic Day parade are between ₹20 a ₹100 while Beating the Retreat full dress rehearsal tickets cost ₹20. Tickets for the Beating the Retreat main ceremony are available at ₹100.
Where to buy tickets for the Republic Day parade
According to the Rashtraparv official website, the tickets are available online on the Aamantran website. Tickets for the parade can also be purchased at stalls or counters at Sena Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan, Jantar Mantar, Parliament House, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station and Kashmere Gate Metro Station. All participants will need an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport or Central or State Government issued Identity Card.

The President of the European Council, Antonio Luis Santos da Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will participate in this year’s celebrations as the main guests of the 77th Republic Day.
The dominant theme of this year’s parade is 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’.
