Exclusive interview Sai Sudharsan: “Dream is to play a test cricket”
“I see this young man Sai Sudharsan for all formats of the game,” Shastri told the ICC Review.
“It looks like a class player, and my eyes would certainly be on him. Being a left -wing player in England, knowing English conditions, and only his technique, the way he plays, I think he’ll be at the top from outsiders who want to get to this side,” Shastri said.
Shastri also discussed the potential return of Shreyas Iyera to the test party, although he recognized strong competition.
“He (Shreyas Iyer) can (make a comeback), but again it will be a competition. White ball, surely. Test cricket, we have to see who other players are,” Shastri said.
When Jasprit Bumhrah and Mohammed were returning from injuries, Shastri emphasized the need for a sailor left shoulder in an Indian bowling attack.
“I will look for the left armed.

Shastri specifically mentioned the potential of Arshdeep Singha in a test cricket, despite his brand specialized in white balls.
“I will also carefully follow his red ball record and the number of breaks he mixes. If he can mix 15-20 for me, he can be very well in the mixture because he has thinking. It’s thinking and I need a left-wing armed. It’s just that,” Shastri said.
The former coach also proposed to consider other left arm options for England Tour.
“You need a left-hander, go and find him, whoever is, and anyone is the best-get them.
