The trainee with a police transport organization (PTO) was arrested by the Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police for at least 10 fastags issued for official police vehicles and illegally rented to private cabin drivers for cash profits. The defendant, Nissar Ahmed, 30 years old, Yakutpury inhabitants, was taken into custody on Sunday 18 May, confirmed police inspector Rgia K. Balaraju.
Fraud came to light when a private vehicle using a fastag registered under a police exception was marked with a toll gate on an outer circular road (ORR), causing suspicion. “Nissar gave Fastags drivers airport drivers and charged them between 8,000 and 10,000 GBP every month for a brand,” the clerk said.
The probe began after a complaint that revealed that Nissar had stolen at least 10 fastags from police vehicles, previously served as a home guard in the PTO office in Petlaburje. At the time of his arrest he completed training in Medchal.
Of the ten fastags, seven have already been deactivated, while three were still used. According to the official Nissar, he continued to collect about 2,000 GBP per brand per month from drivers who were actively used. Two of these drivers have been identified and efforts to arrest them.
