PSU employee pays ₹10,000 rent for 2 BHK in Assam, ₹20,000 for protein-rich food, Internet goes crazy: ‘Aao Mumbai’ | Today’s news
Individuals’ cost of living can vary based on location, lifestyle and personal preference. One such example is an Indian Oil employee who shared her monthly expenses online, including rent, food, fitness, travel and more. She wrote in Dibrugarh and said she was spending around ₹45 thousand per month.
Indian Oil employee expenses
Instagram user Angita claimed to be an operations officer of Indian Oil. Based in Dibrugarh, Assam, she said she has been watching her spending since she got a “reality check”.
Rent
The biggest expense for her is food. She opts for a “healthy, high-protein” meal that costs her around ₹20,000. She added that she pays around ₹10,000/- for a 2BHK apartment with a balcony with a panoramic view. She claimed that the company did not provide her with accommodation, so she had to rent her own place.
Food and more
She added that she prioritizes health by choosing foods like nuts, protein powders, fruits and other items. She said she also spends around ₹3000 for pampering at the salon every month.
Travel
When it comes to travel, the user said she often takes long weekend trips that cost her around ₹10,000 per month. She indicated that she will also save an amount for travel expenses that are not part of her daily living expenses.
Taking into account all non-negotiable and leisure-related expenses, her total spending remained at ₹45,000, according to the woman.
“I’ve been trying to track my spending for the month, now I regret the awareness. There’s more, commuting, check-up stays, cell phone bills, medical bills and many more that get paid when I claim them. But time to claim them is also not available in this busy schedule. Now that I’ve had a reality check, definitely track all claims and budget for the month (sic),” she wrote in the caption.
The Internet is responding
Her monthly budget sparked a debate in the comments section. The user expressed disbelief in the comments, writing: “20k in food seriously.” “Benefits of tier 2 city living, 2bhk for 10k rent (sic),” added another.
Another commented, “10,000 for rent in Dibrugarh is very high.”
Someone else said “Aao kabhi Mumbai…. psu ki salaries jitni flat rent hain yahan pe (a flat rent is same as the salaries of a PSU employee in Mumbai).
