In Nileshwaram, there has been growing opposition to the continued construction of the embankment as part of the National Highway (NH) 66 development, with residents and the People’s Action Council demanding its replacement with an elevated pier-based flyover due to safety, mobility and economic concerns.
The agitation led by the Nileshwaram NH66 Janakeeya Samara Samithi has been going on since March 23, urging the authorities to demolish the earthen embankment at Market Junction and convert the stretch into a viaduct.
