The CPI(M) and the Congress organized separate protest programs against the attacks on their party offices and leaders in Tripura. Several opposition leaders and party workers, including former CPI(M) MLA Amitav Datta, were injured in the incidents.
Both sides blame the ruling BJP for the events that followed days of violence involving BJP cadres and its alliance partner Tipra Moth. Party offices and residences have been targeted in earlier incidents.

Senior Congress leaders claimed that the attacks on opposition party offices and positions were aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing tension between the BJP and its coalition partners. They also hit out at the police for failing to curb the incidents and allowing the perpetrators to run free.
Assailants on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) badly damaged the district office of the Congress in Dharmanagar, the headquarters of North Tripura district. Parts of the office were also set on fire.
Former CPI(M) MLA Amitava Datta and another senior leader were injured during a party program in yet another attack by alleged BJP workers in Dharmanagar. They are currently undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital in Agartala.
After the Congress, the CPI(M) also staged street protests against the attacks. “The Chief Minister cannot ignore his responsibility for the series of political violence in the state,” former minister and senior CPI(M) leader Manik Dey told reporters during one of the protests on Friday (Nov 28, 2025).
He said the Chief Minister did not condemn the violence and targeted attacks. He said the recent incidents were “entirely politically motivated”.
