In a scathing remark on violations of building norms by real estate developers, the Karnataka High Court said that professional builders should be aware of building codes and any deviations from them while constructing high-rise buildings “deserve to be dealt with strictly to act as a deterrent in future, provided such deviations are deliberate with the intention of making profit”.
The court pointed out that construction by professional builders stands on a different footing than that of a private person constructing his own building, and the court said that any deviation from the proper provisions of diversion around the building, etc., becomes necessary.
