President confers additional duties on Ladakh LG to J&K

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) entrusted Lieutenant-Governor Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena with the charge of J&K NCO, in addition to his own duties, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh.

“The President of India is pleased to appoint Mr. Saxena, Lt. Governor of Ladakh, to act as Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to his own duties, during the absence on leave of Manoj Sinha, Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir,” an official release said.

Officials said Mr. Saxena is likely to be sworn in by Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati as the new Chief Justice of the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on September 9.
