Prasidh Krishna suffered a hamstring injury and missed the 3rd ODI against West Indies
India’s Prasidh Krishna (ANI Photo) MUMBAI: In a slight worry for India with a busy cricket season ahead, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is set to miss the third and final ODI against West Indies at Mullanpur in Chandigarh on Saturday (October 3) due to a hamstring injury.Prasidh bowled just five overs (1-45) in India’s eight-wicket win in Guwahati before walking off the field. The Karnataka paceman has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury.Prasidh opened the attack and initially bowled four overs. He returned after the 31st over for a second spell, but it lasted only one over and he did not fall again. Prasidh’s injury forced India to bounce part-time Naman Dhir, who bowled 6.1 overs, though he too had left the field earlier due to cramps. The Indian team is scheduled to fly out of Guwahati on Thursday, but Prasidh will instead fly to Bengaluru and check in at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence to undergo treatment for his injury.Prasidh is not part of the five-match T20I series that follows the ODIs, starting in Lucknow on October 6, so he has some time to recover. However, given the great form he has been in over the past few months, India would hope that Prasidh recovers from his injury in time for their upcoming tour of New Zealand, which begins with the opening T20I on October 22.India batsman Sitanshu Kotak confirmed after the match that Prasidh has been dealing with a hamstring strain and will undergo further tests.“Prasidh Krishna has a hamstring strain, he is being monitored. They will do scans and we will have an update tomorrow evening,” Kotak said.Prasidha’s absence could pave the way for Mohammed Siraj, who was somewhat controversially ‘rested’ from the first two ODIs, to play in the ODI final, although India also have an eye on recalling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was ruled out of the second ODI.
