Pradhan offered to end first day of student agitation: BJP leader Vijayvargiya

Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that Dharmendra Pradhan has offered to resign as Union Education Minister on the very first day of the student agitation in Delhi.

“Pradhan’s resignation foiled the plans of those foreign forces who wanted to destabilize India by spreading violence as happened in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. I congratulate him for what he has done,” Vijayvargiya told reporters in Indore on Saturday (July 25, 2026).

Mr Pradhan resigned on Saturday (July 25, 2026), after which the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called off its 36-day agitation that had incited thousands over exam irregularities and the NEET paper leak.

Former BJP General Secretary Mr. Vijayvargiya said that Mr. Pradhan had discharged all the responsibilities entrusted to him with integrity and dedication.

“On the first day, as soon as the student agitation started, Pradhan told the BJP president that he was ready to resign as education minister if he felt it necessary,” he said.

The party president then asked Mr. Pradhan not to resign, saying no decision had been taken on the matter and he should neither submit his resignation nor discuss it with anyone until a decision was taken, the BJP leader said.

Later, when circumstances changed and the party decided that Mr. Pradhan should step down, he immediately resigned, Mr. Vijayvargiya added.

Mr Vijayvargiya targeted the Congress over its celebration after Mr Pradhan’s resignation and used a Hindi proverb when he said the opposition party was “beating the drums for the birth of a child in a neighbour’s house”.

“What role did the Congress play in the student agitation? The students started the agitation and the Congress only stood behind them. After the West Bengal assembly elections, the opposition became completely demoralized and in this state of despair found a ray of hope in the Cockroach Janata Party,” he claimed.

The minister also asked if any Congress leader faced police action during the student agitation.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has behaved like “termites” and emptied the country’s education system.

Taking aim at the Congress MP over the remarks, Mr Vijayvargiya said: “I feel very sorry for Rahul Gandhi’s political ideology and his intellect. I think he still needs to understand what the RSS is.”

The country is moving in the right direction, the BJP leader said, crediting the RSS for its contribution.
