The police set up a base and deployed security staff with the Minister of the Union and Thrissur MEP Suesh Gopi in the city, after growing criticism over two recent controversies – the arrest of Malaysles Jing in Chhattisgarh, and Thursur Lok Sabha voters.
This step comes as a result of opposition protests. Congress and the left democratic front (LDF) claimed that the Voter for Lok Sabha 2024 surveys was manipulated and added the names of people who were not permanent inhabitants of the constituency.
The leader of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the losing candidate in the elections vs Sunilkumar reflected the accusations and further questioned the behavior of the returning officer. The party demanded the probe to what was allegedly an important election fraud in the election district.
The President of the District Congress (DCC) Joseph Tanet claimed that 11 people were added to the booth number 116, including brother Suresh Gopi, but their names were missing in the last voter. “This proves that they were not permanent residents of the constituency,” he said.
“Missing the constituency”
Meanwhile, the President of the KSU district Thrissur Gokul Guruvayur filed a complaint against the Police Thrissur East, which said Suresh Gopi of the constituency was missing since the arrest of nuns in Chhattisgarh. The complaint urged the police to find out their place of stay and who was for his “disappearance”.
