Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 11, 2025) launched two main agricultural programs with a combined 35,440 Crore, including a pulse -confidence mission, and urged farmers to increase production to satisfy domestic and global demand.
Farmers have a decisive role in the implementation of the vision of developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047, he said in solving the event in the campus in the capital of the national city.
Mr. Modi said two large schemes-24,000 GBP-Crore Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDky) and Mission of 11,440 GBP for Aatmanirbhart in Pulses would “change farmers”.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated projects worth more than 5,450 GBP in agriculture, animal breeding, fishing and food processing, laid the foundation stone for other projects worth around 815 crore.
The aim of PM-DDKY is to transform 100 low-transparent agricultural districts based on the model of aspiration districts (ADP). The scheme will focus on increasing the productivity of crops, supporting crop diversification, improving irrigation and storage facilities and ensuring access to the loan in selected districts.
For Pulses Modi, Mr. Modi urged farmers to increase the pulse area by 35 lakh hectares by 2030 to increase production and achieve self -confidence.
The mission targets increasing pulses from the current 252.38 Lakh tons to 350 lakh tons to 2030-31, reducing import dependence.
After focusing on the previous government of Congress, Modi accused her of “neglecting” the agricultural sector and said that the opposition party lacked the “vision” for the growth of this essential sector.
The Prime Minister has emphasized various measures taken over the past 11 years for the overall development of agriculture and allied sectors.
“In the interest of farmers, we took several seed reforms to the market (Beei Bazaar so),” he said.
Mr. Modi, who outlined the success of the sector during its operation, said that the export of the farm doubled, food production increased by 900 Lakh tons and fruits and vegetable production increased by 640 Lakh tons.
Mr Modi also noted that the recent reduction of tax rates from goods and services (GST) brought the most rural India and farmers, while the prices of agricultural machines such as tractors are falling.
The event was present by the Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Fishing, Animal Breeding and Minister of Milk Rajiv Ranjana Singho and State Minister of Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhara.
