Prime minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (April 29, 2026) the 594 km Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, describing it as the identity of the ‘New Uttar Pradesh’, which would emerge as a new lifeline for the state’s connectivity and employment. Hailing the state’s development, Mr. Modi added, “not only expressways are being built in Uttar Pradesh today, but overall development is progressing at an even faster pace.”
“Uttar Pradesh received the gift of this highway with the blessings of Maa Ganga. The highway is the identity of New Uttar Pradesh; the Ganga Highway is not just a road project but the foundation of the economic, social and industrial transformation of Uttar Pradesh, where development is moving even faster than the speed of the Sangam Highway itself, people can reach the speed of the Sangamshi itself within hours.” minister Inaugurating the project built at an approximate cost of ₹ 36,230 crore, he said the six-lane controlled-access expressway is likely to significantly reduce travel time, making it possible to travel from Meerut to Prayagraj in six hours. The highway would start from Meerut and pass through Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli and Pratapgarh before culminating in Prayagraj.
