The Directorate General Education (DGE) on Sunday released the first allotment for Plus One Higher Secondary Single Window Admission for the admission year 2026-27. A staggering 4,44,772 applications have been processed for the available pool of 3,15,874 general seats, which increases to 3,17,902 seats after taking into account the additional compulsory allocations for differently-abled students.
As many as 2,46,638 seats were allotted in the first round of allotment, leaving 71,264 seats vacant across various quotas and community reservations in the state. The demand-supply gap remains very pronounced in the northern districts, especially Malappuram, where several thousand applicants remain waiting for allotment after the first round.
Malappuram leads
Malappuram continues to lead the state with the highest number of applications with 82,753. The district also received the maximum number of seats in the state accommodating 40,554 students, leaving 17,301 vacancies contested by 42,199 students in the second allotment. Notably, the general merit quota of the district is completely exhausted and all 26,844 available seats are fully allotted.
In terms of vacancies, Kannur (8,176) and Kozhikode (7,799) are behind Malappuram. Admission of students on a first-come, first-served basis will begin on Monday at 10 a.m. and continue until Wednesday at 5 p.m. Those who get the first option in the allocation round are advised to pay the fee and take permanent admission. Students allocated to other options may accept permanent or temporary admission. There is no fee to pay for temporary admission.
The DGE office has warned that any candidate who fails to secure at least provisional admission after receiving allotment will be permanently debarred from all subsequent stages of allotment.
