Prices of gasoline, diesel, CNG today, September 17, 2026: Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged in major Indian cities on Thursday, September 17. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) revise petrol and diesel prices daily, with the latest rates valid from 6am.

Meanwhile, the government has reduced the windfall tax imposed on exports of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), with the revised rates effective immediately, according to a government order issued on Wednesday.

Duty on diesel exports has been reduced to 20 per liter from 25 per liter. The gasoline export fee has been reduced 0.50 per liter from 1.50 per litre, while the windfall tax on ATF exports has been reduced to 15 per liter from 19 per liter.

CNG prices varied from city to city, with Lucknow, Hyderabad and Kolkata recording higher prices.

Petrol most expensive in Hyderabad, diesel most expensive in Thiruvananthapuram

Among the mentioned cities, Hyderabad recorded the highest price of petrol 115.69 per litre, just ahead of Thiruvananthapuram 115.49 per litre.
