Peddapalli Gaddam Congress MP Vamsi Krishna on Wednesday urged the Union government to provide clear timelines for deploying several approved infrastructure projects, including ROBs and FOBs, worth nearly ₹4,210 crore in his constituency.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing winter session, Mr. Vamsi Krishna highlighted the importance of the much-pending 137 km long Peddapalli-Manuguru railway line and said that a detailed project report (DPR) worth ₹4,000 crore has already been prepared.
The project was granted special project status in May 2024 with an estimated cost initially of ₹3,600 crore, now revised to ₹4,000 crore due to detailed planning.
Mr. Vamsi’s call in Parliament was not only about the projects but also about the urgency of their implementation. “Our youth are facing many hardships due to unemployment and lack of infrastructure,” he said.
Apart from infrastructure, Mr. Vamsi urged the Center to set up a semiconductor facility at Peddapalli. “We have a large industrial center with young people who are highly skilled and talented. Unfortunately, most of them are unemployed today,” he said.
The request is in line with the national push for semiconductor manufacturing under the India Semiconductor Mission, which aims to reduce import dependency and create high-tech jobs. Peddapalli’s strategic location and existing industrial base make it a prime candidate for such a facility, argued Mr. Vamsi.
