The Patna police have filed an FIR against noted educationist Faisal Khan, widely known as ‘Khan Sir’, along with two others in connection with the arson and vandalism incident that took place outside his coaching institute on June 2.

The action follows an alleged attack earlier this week in which a group of individuals allegedly damaged property at the Khan Global Studies Institute and threw stones at the premises.

What did the police say?

Police said two security guards associated with the institute were arrested after video footage allegedly linked them to the incident.

The FIR, registered at the Kadamkuan police station, includes charges under Section 109 (backsliding) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and also Sections 25(9), 27 and 35 of the Arms Act.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the City Superintendent of Police (Central), Patna, the incident took place on the night of June 2 at approximately 10:10 pm. A group of individuals allegedly engaged in stone pelting and vandalism at the Khan Global Studies Coaching Centre.

“After the incident, case No. 410/26 was registered and an investigation was started. In the course of the investigation, it was possible to obtain a video recording of two people shooting from the air after the act of vandalism,” the police said in a statement.

After verifying the video footage, the police identified and arrested two guards associated with the institute. After investigating the sequence of events and the recovery of weapons, the police named Khan Sir and two others in an FIR under sections of the Seduction and the Arms Act.

Police have confirmed that the weapons used in the incident have been seized and handed over to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination.

“Based on the evidence gathered as part of the ongoing investigation, further action will be taken,” added the city SP’s office.

In light of the incident, the Patna police also appealed to the student community not to be influenced by professional rivalry or competition between various coaching centres.

“All students are requested not to be misled by anyone during coaching center competitions. No compromise will be made on crime control and maintenance of law and order,” the statement stressed.
