Emergency crews responded Sunday (May 17) after two Navy aircraft collided during an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in western Idaho, according to the AP.
The incident occurred during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show near the base, which is located roughly 50 miles south of Boise.
The news outlet, citing Kim Sykes, director of marketing for Silver Wings of Idaho, said all four crew members on board the plane ejected safely before the jets crashed.
Sykes said the crash happened off base.
“I didn’t see the crash, but I saw the smoke,” she told the AP.
Officials did not immediately release details regarding the crew members’ injuries or conditions.
Base placed on lock down after collision
According to a news source, Mountain Home Air Force Base confirmed in a statement on social media that the installation was locked down following the incident.
Paramedics were dispatched to the area and an investigation was launched.
“Respondents were on the scene and an investigation is underway,” the base said, according to the AP.

Several witnesses told the AP that the two planes collided and crashed during the event.
Videos posted online reportedly showed four parachutes opening in the sky as the planes fell to the ground near the base.
The record has not been independently verified.
A person in charge of calls at the 366th Fighter Wing’s public affairs office told the AP that no further information was immediately available.
