Telugu Desam Party MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra said on Saturday (October 24, 2026) that the Parvatipuram municipality is experiencing rapid growth as the state government has sanctioned around ₹162 crore for the development of the civic body, which was established in 1959 and is one of the oldest in the state.

Along with TDP leader and his wife Bonela Anusha, he campaigned for TDP’s candidate for the post of Speaker, Belagam Karuna, and for councilors in 36 wards.

Talking to the media, he said that the voters want to vote for TDP, JSP and BJP in the coming elections as the government has taken steps to lay a new pipeline from Thotapalli reservoir to the city as the old pipeline was damaged long ago. He said the government is spending around ₹89 crore on new pipelines and has ensured dedicated water supply to every household in Parvatipuram.

Ms. Anusha said there was an overwhelming response from the voters for the rapid development activities in the nooks and crannies of the city. She alleged that the YSRCP government neglected the development of the city during its tenure. She added that the TDP women’s wing has formed special teams to intensify the door-to-door campaign in the coming days.
