Believers in the district of Hill in Idukki watched Palm Sunday with religious enthusiasm on Sunday.
Idukki Bishop Mar John Nejlikunnel led a special service in the church of Rajakumari Deivamatha on Sunday morning.
“The division is the cause of damage to families and society. A collective effort is needed to show unity and solidarity against this,” said Mar Nejlikunnel in his message during the Holy Mass.
Special mass was offered as part of Palm Sunday celebrations in various churches in different parts of the district.
Hundreds of believers from various Catholic denominations participated in parade and mass.
As part of the celebrations around the churches, they marched gentle coconut palm leaves (Kuruthola). Minister of Water Resources Rosha Augustine took part in the service in Vazhathope ST George Cathedral under the dioceses of IDUKKI. Church vicar Francis Edavakkandam led the Holy Mass.

Palm Sunday, also locally known as “Osana Njayar” and “Kuruthola Perunal”, refers to the beginning of the Holy Week.
