Composer-director Palaash Muchhal made his first public appearance since his wedding to Smriti Mandhana, vice-captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, scheduled for November 23, was postponed.
A video of Palaash walking out of the airport is doing the rounds on social media.
The viral video shot by paparazzi Pallav Paliwal also featured drama
On November 29, the most talked about couple of the moment made their first coordinated public gesture since the sudden postponement – both Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal appeared to make a deliberate united move online. Almost at the same time, the pair updated their Instagram bios and added only a single symbol – the nazar (evil eye) emoji.
The marriage fiasco turned into a wildfire of speculation
After the wedding was called off rather suddenly, the Mandhana and Muchhala families released a brief statement clarifying that the event was postponed due to health reasons, without offering any further explanation.
The lack of clarity has fueled widespread online speculation, with social media users suggesting the reasons may be deeper than what has been officially communicated.
Alarm bells first rang when Mandhana deleted every wedding-related post from her Instagram — including the proposal video and engagement announcement. Meanwhile, the same items remained on Muchhal’s profile.
The situation escalated into controversy when Instagram user Mary D’Costa posted what she described as screenshots of a chat exchange from earlier this year.
She claimed Muchhal was in contact with her when he allegedly avoided questions about his relationship. The screenshots quickly spread across social media – fueling speculation and casting a shadow over the postponed wedding.
What is actually verified?
Despite the flood of rumours, the only confirmed facts come from family sources and event organizers. According to multiple reports, the wedding was called off – or at least postponed indefinitely – due to an actual medical emergency. On the morning of November 23, Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, reportedly fell ill and was taken to hospital. As a result, the families decided it would be best to postpone the ceremony until his health stabilized.
In the aftermath, Muchhal is also said to have experienced a brief health scare in Sangli associated with emotional stress and was later hospitalised. According to his mother, he was deeply affected by the turn of events — so much so that he was forced to postpone the wedding until the family recovered.
Neither Mandhana nor Muchhal have yet issued any public statement on the rumours. Their only visible action was an Instagram bio update — a symbolic move that spokespeople for both parties did not explain.
