People continue to flout the liquor ban in Bihar as the latest figures show that more than 17 lakh people have been arrested for violating the prohibition law in the state since April 1, 2016.
The manufacture, import, storage, sale and consumption of alcohol is illegal under the law. Of the 17,18,058 accused arrested so far, 7,75,979 persons were arrested by the Prohibition and Excise Department and 9,42,079 persons were arrested by the police.
