
A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into cyclonic storm Ditwah, which is expected to make landfall in the early morning of November 30 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh coasts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a landfall warning for several states.
Indigo Airlines has issued a travel advisory and in a post on X said: “Due to prevailing cyclonic conditions and heavy rains associated with Cyclone Ditwah, flights to and from #Jaffna, #Pondicherry, #Tuticorin and #Trichy may experience disruption.
As the rains from Cyclone Ditwah continue, three reservoirs in Kerala’s Idukki district are on red alert due to rising water levels. Meanwhile, Thrissur and Kozhikode reservoirs are on orange alert.
The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has warned citizens of expected heavy rainfall due to Cyclone Ditwah.
