Here is what we know about the case of donkey routes and ED investigation:
What is a donkey case that Ed probe?
The case of the donkey route stems from several firs registered in Pandjab and Haryana against travel and visa agents, as well as intermediaries who were charged with cheating several people who want to go to the US.
During his investigation, ED found that agents used to target innocent people who were willing to go abroad. They promised false sending these people through legal channels and years and charged exaggerated amounts.
Defendants agents charged £40-50 Lakh on the candidate to send them abroad.
However, the agents used innocent persons when they were sent by illegal routes, also known as donkey routes. The candidates were forced to cross the borders of multiple countries illegally through dangerous routes under the influence of Donkers and Mafia.
In addition, these travel agencies were used in agreement with Donkers and mafia to create dangerous situations by threatening candidates and their families, thus blackmailing even more money.
In February this year, a number of Indians from Pandjab, Haryana and several other countries were later recorded on board American military aircraft, and the agency later recorded a statement by several deported.
