The Ongole Government General Hospital (GGH) has reportedly saved the life of a patient suffering from a very rare and dangerous neurological disease by providing timely and expensive injections worth crores of rupees.
Disclosing the details to the media here on Wednesday, Ongole GGH Superintendent Dr. S. Manikya Rao said, “The government hospital provides enterprise-level healthcare services to the poor and even patients with life-threatening conditions are saved with the help of state-of-the-art equipment.”
“Parasa Venkateshwarlu (32) of Kondepi village was admitted to GGH two weeks ago with serious health problems. He was showing symptoms like numbness in legs and hands, severe convulsions, falling after taking two steps, making it impossible for him to stand up after sitting down.”
Doctors from the Department of Neurology at GGH immediately went to the scene after observing the patient’s condition. CSF analysis was performed along with advanced neurological tests. He was diagnosed with a serious neurological disease called ‘Guillain-Barré syndrome’.
If not treated in time, the legs and arms can become completely paralyzed and the patient can become bedridden. Sometimes it can affect the respiratory system and even cause death. However, the early intervention of GGH doctors saved his life.
