A software development engineer at Amazon has shared a detailed breakdown of his monthly expenses that shows how he manages a comfortable lifestyle in Bengaluru. 35 thousand per month.

Prem Raj, who works as an SDE-1 at Amazon, posted a video on Instagram detailing his regular expenses, from accommodation and transportation to fitness and food.

“Here’s how much I spend as a software engineer working 9-5 at Amazon in Bengaluru,” he said.

The biggest part of his monthly budget is housing. Prem Raj lives in a two-bedroom flat in Bengaluru’s Marathahalli area and pays 15,000 as his share of the rent.

After several viewers expressed surprise at the relatively low rent, he clarified that he shares the apartment with another person. The total rent for the property is 30,000 which is divided equally between the two passengers.

His other big expense is helping around the house charging the cook 3000 every month. He also spends approx 2,000 for fuel for his motorcycle.

Another significant part of his budget is maintaining his fitness routine and meeting his nutritional goals. Prem Raj, who previously worked at Microsoft and Oracle, said he spends approx 2,000 every month on gym membership fees and protein supplements.

“To stay fit, I go to the gym regularly. Gym memberships and protein supplements keep me going.” 2,000 per month,” he said.

In addition, it allocates around 3,000 every month to buy chicken as part of his protein intake.

Shopping for food and household necessities costs him approx 3000 per month. Since his cook is unavailable most weekends, he spends extra 2000 per food order.

Utility bills, internet fees and subscription services add up to something else 2000 per month. It also applies 1,000 to rent appliances such as a washing machine and a refrigerator.

With another 2,000 meant for occasional purchases, his total monthly spend is around 35,000.

Techie’s budget breakdown has gone viral online

The breakdown attracted considerable attention online, with many social media users praising the transparency and describing it as a realistic representation of the city’s cost of living.
