Bengaluru man who faced 7 rejections before landing job at Amazon offers advice to candidates: “Life is unfair…” | Today’s news
A man from Bengaluru has shared his journey to land a job with a tech giant after facing many setbacks, with his resume being rejected multiple times. His video went viral and drew a wide range of reactions, with several users describing his story as “inspirational”.
The user, who goes by the name Aritra, documented his experience on an Instagram reel, explaining how he remained determined and did not lose hope despite repeated job rejections. In the now-viral video, he revealed that he currently works as a data engineer at Amazon and recalled that he had applied to the company several times before without success.
“No matter how much we edit our resume, get referrals or prepare, we will still get rejected. Someone commented on this in one of my Instagram videos. Hi, I’m Aritra and I work as a data engineer at Amazon. And today I want to tell you a very small story. I’ve applied to Amazon more than 7-8 times in 5 years,” he said.
Multiple requests and repeated rejections
Aritra said he explored several avenues, including referrals and applying through the company’s job portal, but nothing worked for a long time. “I applied through referrals, through a job portal, and every time my CV didn’t even get shortlisted. I got automated rejection emails over and over again,” he said.
An Amazon employee said there was a point where he had to decide whether to stop trying or keep going despite repeated failures.

“At one point I had two options: stop trying or keep going. I decided to keep going and one day I was finally called for an interview. This time I was prepared enough to crack it,” he said.
A message for those facing rejection
Despite the disappointments, he decided to keep going and later shared words of encouragement for others facing career setbacks.
“Life is sometimes unfair, competitive and exhausting. We can’t control every rejection, but what we can control is our consistency, our preparation and our hard work. Trust me, hard work can take us to places we never imagined. Never stop believing in yourself and never give up,” he added.

The video was shared with the caption: “I applied to Amazon so many times. And every time… my resume was rejected before it was even reviewed. No OA link. No interview. Nothing. Honestly, it hurt. I felt like I wasn’t even given a chance to prove myself or my worth. But I gave up? No. I kept learning. I kept getting better. I kept applying. And today doesn’t mean that here it takes longer than I expect to be successful on Amazon.”

How social media users reacted:
The video quickly went viral and garnered mixed reactions from social media users.
One user wrote: “It felt like my own way to get into a product company. I don’t care how many years it takes. If we really want something, we work for it for years. Lucky for you.” Another said: “Consistency really matters more than one rejection.” A third commented: “The auto-rejection emails hurt the most, but it gives hope.” Another user wrote: “Hard work and patience always pay off.” Someone else added: “That’s what I needed to hear today.” Another said: “This proves that success delayed is still success.”
