The Minister of the Union’s cooperation AMIT Shah on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) informed Lok Sabha that two seats were reserved for women, and one seat for the planned caste (SC) or planned tribes (ST) on the council of several states of colleagues, responding to Congress’s leader Rahul Gandhi’s questions about cooperative companies.
In the written response, Mr. Shah said that the government incorporated similar provisions into the Byelaws model for the primary agricultural credit company (PACS) distributed to all countries.
‘To increase the participation of women, ST and SC, in multiple state-owned companies registered throughout the country, the Indian government video of more states of cooperation (amendment), 2023 and rules framed by the provisions for reserving two seats for women and one place on the board within Multi-State. More inclusive, which provided adequate representation to women and planned caste/ plans, ”said the answer.
Mr. Gandhi was looking for details of government initiatives to increase SC and ST in forming cooperative companies. He also asked whether the government granted exceptions to compulsory assignment within the SC/ST sub -plan for the main programs carried out by the Ministry of Cooperation, in particular financial assistance in establishing Ethanol plants.
The answer said that the Ministry was introduced by several programs, including the PAC computer computer, Grant-in-Aid to National Cooperative Development Corporation to strengthen cooperative mills for sugar mills and IT interventions for cooperatives.
“These programs benefit from members of cooperative companies, including SC/ST farmers,” she said, explaining that the exceptions were awarded due to the nature of the scheme through cooperative companies.
