Oktoberfest: Lufthansa crew on board Bengaluru-Munich air sports traditional costume

As Oktoberfest 2026 celebrations are underway in Munich, the crew of a Lufthansa Airlines flight between Bengaluru and Munich will be dressed in traditional Bavarian attire.

This is the first time that the crew on board the flight on this route will be dressed in traditional costume.

“For 20 years, our long-haul crews have exchanged their uniforms for Bavarian traditional costume during the Oktoberfest season: the first traditional costume crew left Munich for New York on September 1, 2006. With the current modern design, we continue the long-standing tradition of flying in traditional costume from Munich. The details speak for themselves: this costume was created exclusively for the Lufthanko and Reitz crew and one of the cabins. Lufthansa Divisional Board Member Airlines and hub manager Munich.

The airline said the crew will wear the traditional costume on two international routes – to Bengaluru (LH764) and Beijing (LH722).

He added that the collection was designed by the Lower Bavarian traditional fashion manufacturer Spieth & Wensky and combines Bavarian tradition with elements of Lufthansa design.

The crew received a traditional welcome at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday (September 22).

Lufthansa started direct flights connecting Bengaluru and Munich, Germany in November 2023.

Lufthansa said it is bringing Bavarian cuisine to the skies on select intercontinental flights from Munich and Frankfurt. Across all travel classes, guests can look forward to a specially created menu. “The selection ranges from traditional starters including white sausage and pretzel terrine, to hearty Oktoberfest classics such as Viennese roast duck and fried chicken, to sweet treats such as apple strudel. Passengers on continental routes are also catered for: in business class, Lufthansa is serving an Oktoberfest menu until October 6,” the company said.
