J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday (May 1, 2026) said there is no move to drop Urdu from the Union Territory (UT) revenue services as opposition parties are up in arms over the recruitment rules, which are said to drop Urdu as a compulsory subject for middle and lower-level jobs.
“There is no move to scrap Urdu. We only sought feedback from the public, the file remains with me and I have no intention of approving it,” Mr Abdullah said.
