Mango had in the Botanical Garden of Lalbagag has always been a highly anticipated event for mango lovers in Bengalur and farmers. Farmers threatened to protest against the Ministry of Horticulture unless steps to promote the event and bring further business. “Unlike all previous years this year, we do not see any publicity or trace. We will take care of our manga, such as children from the flowering stage until they ripen and now we are facing such losses.
Officials of the Ministry of Horticulture acknowledged that the strike was smaller than in previous years, but denied any demands on not publishing the event.

Manga farmers have been protesting for several days, especially after Totapuri prices dropped to only 4 GBP per kg. They demanded a support price from the government.

Ramesh said that the government had been sent a proposal on the Support Prize for Totapuri, which will make the final decision.
