The Minister of Forest Ak Sasendran said that the proposal is prepared for new legislation aimed at alleviating the human and Tislife conflict in the State.
The decision to proceed in this respect was based on the Council received from the general lawyer who suggested that the state could use the provisions of the concurrent list to set such a law. While the design process began, it would probably be introduced at the next cabinet meeting, the Minister told Mediaperons on Thursday.
He added that the decision on the bill was adopted at the instruction of the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The government plans to introduce a bill to meet the legislative assembly scheduled for next month.
This step comes as a result of extensive criticism that existing central laws and regulations are impractical in solving state problems. Several neighborhoods claimed that the current legal framework strongly prefers nature conservation, often at the expense of human security and livelihood.
The Minister stated that new legislation focused on the balance of people’s interests and wild animals. It would deviate from the current standards by the fact that in the scenarios of conflicts, it would focus on greater consideration of human fears.
However, the proposal will undergo further discussions within the cabinet and among the members of the government that have abandoned the democratic front. Public opinion will also be requested and considered before the bill is completed and introduced in the assembly, he added.
