Casting the shadow days before the planned survey of the Karnataka State Commission for Back Class, some Siddaramaiaha’s cabinet ministers have learned that they have put pressure on the main minister to postpone or postpone it, quoting the inclusion of caste. According to sources, up to 331 caste/ substalles were quoted as examples that are not “original castes”.
However, the survey will be launched from September 22, when the Commission is preparing, although the government on Thursday, both at the cabinet meeting and later during the meeting of the group of ministers, was confiscated by a matter for 331 castels.
BJP and other caste groups raised objections to certain “new castes”, which are included in the list, including other Christians Brahmin, Christians Lingayat, Christians Kobuba and Christians Vokkalig. Nitijections were also raised on an increased number of Muslim substalles and Lingayat Sub Kast, among other things.
The sources said the cabinet meeting has seen an animated discussion of caste survey with ministers belonging to the politically powerful and soil communities of Vokkalig and Veerashaiva-Lanlayat communities that oppose the survey itself. Both communities were traditionally against the survey and successfully opposed the previous survey conducted by H. Kantharaj in 2015, presented by the Commission of K. Jayaprakash Hege in 2024.
While the Veerashaiva-Landayat ministers have caused the problem of confusion around the survey, several others pointed out that it also became a political instrument. The main minister learned that he expressed disappointment at the fact that he was marked as SC/ ST/ CITS and minorities and against other castes. He pointed to poor people in all communities and the need for a survey, sources said.
Meeting of ministers after the cabinet, including HC Mahadevappa, Santhosh Lad, HK Patil, MB Patil and Byrathi Suresh, was asked to look at 331 caste in the list. “People want to identify themselves in some way what cannot be prevented. Neither the government nor the commissions have any role.
Why did some castes come to the list?
In the middle of the discussion on the inclusion of the “new caste” in the list of H. Kantharai Commission KN Lingappa explained that the Commission did not imagine the existence of “new” caste and the government did not have a role in inclusion.
“Members of these communities were asked before the committee to include their caste names. They wanted to know their caste population. When they were told they couldn’t be included, they threatened to move the court. In the end, he pointed out that communities received the character of their population in the survey. “It was the commission’s decision to include them in the list. We also told them that the numbers would eventually be added as part of a larger group, so the population data was pulled out.”
