
The All India Medical Association Federation on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court alleging “systemic failure” by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in conducting NEET UG 2026 after the Center canceled the exam on May 3 amid reports of a suspected paper leak.
The petitioners approached the Supreme Court seeking a complete overhaul of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and court-monitored re-examination of NEET-UG 2026.
Key demands include a request for directions to the Union government to either replace the NTA or undertake a major restructuring of the agency by creating a more autonomous, technology-equipped and powerful body to conduct NEET.

The NEET UG 2026 examination has been canceled by the center due to allegations of paper leakage and irregularities in the examination. The inputs were examined in coordination with central authorities and the findings raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process.

FAIMA’s petition seeks directions to the Union Government to either replace the NTA or restructure it into a more autonomous and effective body. They are also demanding a fresh NEET-UG 2026 examination under the supervision of a high-powered court-appointed committee.
The “guess paper” with questions similar to the NEET-UG 2026 exam was traced to an MBBS student in Kerala who allegedly received it from a friend in Sikar, Rajasthan. The document is said to have continued to circulate before the exam.
Arvind Kejriwal urged General Z to protest against the government, drawing parallels to protests in Nepal and Bangladesh. He highlighted the numerous alleged paper leak cases since 2014 and questioned the CBI’s ability to handle the issue when leaders are involved.

The petition also demanded a fresh examination of NEET-UG 2026 under the supervision of a high-powered committee appointed by the courts. According to the plea, the panel should be led by a former Supreme Court judge and include experts in cyber security and forensic science to ensure the integrity of the investigation process.
In a post on X FAIMA wrote that the association is represented by lawyer Tanvi Dubey.
“Federation of All India Medical Association through Tanvi Dubey moves Supreme Court challenging NTA’s systemic failure to conduct NEET UG 2026,” the post read.
Speaking to ANI, advocate Tanvi Dubey expressed concern over administrative lapses and said the association is demanding “dissolution of NTA” and formation of a “court-appointed committee” to conduct the NEET-UG examination.
She said the association had asked for the formation of a “high power committee” to ensure transparency in the entire process.
Dubey further said that the petition contains a demand for timely conduct of the review.
“This petition has been filed through Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) under Article 32 of the Supreme Court. The focus is on the leak of the NEET UG document… Our main demand is that the NTA should be dissolved and an independent court-appointed commission should be formed by the Supreme Court to conduct the NEET-UG examination to ensure that such systemic failures do not recur and an executive committee should be appointed the court … the body that will do the review and to ensure that this whole process is transparent, the immediate relief that we have put in the petition is that this examination will be done in a few months or maybe in a few weeks,” Debey said.

On Tuesday, FAIMA extended its support to NEET aspirants and said it “will not remain silent until the papers and the mafia decide who becomes a doctor”.
“Our hearts go out to the thousands of students who put their lives on hold for NEETUG 2026 only to be met with systemic negligence. FAIMA demands immediate accountability for this paper leak. We will not remain silent while the ‘roll the papers’ and the mafia decide who becomes a doctor. Exemplary punishment is the only way forward. We stand with you,” FAIMA.
FAIMA’s Dr Mohammad Momin Khan called the cancellation of the exam “shameful”.
He wrote on X, “Absolutely shameful. NEET 2026 under controversy again. Honest students have been studying for years while paper leak mafias are playing with their future.”
Amid allegations of paper leak and examination irregularities, the Center on Tuesday canceled the NEET-UG 2026 examination held on May 3 and announced that the country’s largest undergraduate medical entrance test will be conducted again on dates to be announced separately.
The government has also referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the allegations thoroughly.

In a statement, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said the decision was taken after inputs were examined in coordination with central authorities and findings shared by law enforcement agencies raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process.
The student protest was called off and criticized the move to re-conduct the exam. National Students Union of India (NSUI) workers staged a protest against the central government. Protesters were seen climbing the barricades at Shastri Bhavan and marking their protest.
The NEET exam was held on May 3 this year. According to the NTA, 22.79 lakh students appeared in over 5,400 centers for the exam, which was held in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.
