Nagenthran urges Madurantakam voters to think about horse trading and then vote
State BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday urged voters in Madurantakam assembly constituency to think how much money would be exchanged for former AIADMK legislator Maragatham Kumaravel to resign and join the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
“There has been horse-trading here. How much money did the MLA get? If the person you elected has resigned and is being re-instated as a TVK candidate, we have to think about how many crores of rupees she gave to TVK,” Mr. Nagenthran said.
The BJP leader campaigned for the AIADMK candidate fielded in the Madurantakam bypoll. He also alleged that the exchequer had to incur unnecessary expenditure due to the resignation of the legislator elected from the Madurantakam constituency.
Criticizing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s recent visit to London, Mr. Nagenthran said the Ashok Leyland deal could have been struck even when he was in India. He also charged that “the police are not under anyone’s control”.
