The fourth annual ‘Mysuru Cycle Day’, organized by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), drew enthusiastic participation at Saraswathipuram in the city on Monday, boosting the push for sustainable urban mobility and cleaner air.
Organized in collaboration with GIZ and ESAF as part of the Sustainable Urban Mobility-Air Quality initiative, the event highlighted the importance of environmental protection, public health and pollution-free urban living.
The highlight of the program was a five-kilometer cycling rally, which was attended by hundreds of cycling enthusiasts, students and residents. The event also included ‘Open Street’ activities and traditional games that transformed the stretch into a public space and reinforced the idea that urban roads can serve as people-friendly community spaces rather than being used only for vehicular traffic.
The program was conducted with the support of Mysuru City Police, Traffic Police, NCC cadets, educational institutions and various government departments.
The organizers said that ‘Mysuru Cycle Day’ has continuously emerged as an important platform to promote clean mobility and healthy lifestyle among the citizens. MCC thanked volunteers, partner organizations and the public for contributing to the success of the event.
