Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and CEO, Reliance Industries announced an unconditional grant £151 Crore to the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, where he graduated at the age of 70.
Ambani spent over three hours at the Institute (ICT) on Friday, which was then called the University Ministry of Chemical Technology (UDCT). He was there to take part in his office and publish the biography of Professor MM Sharma called “Divine Scientist”.
He also remembered how he was motivated by the first lecture he attended in UDCT in UDCT, and as prof. Sharma later played the role of a quiet architect of Indian economic reforms.
Prof. Sharma impressed politicians that the only way to grow, was to avert the Indian industry from license-permit-ran, which will allow Indian players to build a measure, reduce dependence on imports and compete around the world.
“Like my father Dhirubhai Ambani, the Indian industry had a spicy desire to change the Indian industry due to a lack of global leadership,” Ambani said.
He also added: “These two courageous visionaries believed that science and technology in an alliance with private entrepreneurship will open a flood of prosperity.”
Ambani, which attributed the rise of the Indian chemical industry for the effort of prof.
When he talked about the “guru of Dakshin”, Ambani announced an unconditional grant £151 crore on ICT according to the instructions of prof. Sharma.
“When he tells us something, we just listen. We don’t think. He said,” Mukesh you have to do something big for the ICT and I’m very glad to announce it for Prof. Sharma, “ambani said while referring to a grant.
