With the UV index levels reaching alarming heights in Munnar Hill Station, Idukki District Collector Dineshan Cheruvatt has issued the highest alert for the district. According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), a high UV index of 8 was recorded on Saturday.
The collector advised the public to avoid direct sunlight during the day and advised covering the face and body outdoors. In addition, the tourism department and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) have been directed to issue a formal warning to tourists visiting Munnar.
