
MS Dhoni (BCCI/IPL photo) NEW DELHI: Former India captain MS Dhoni has added another notable achievement to his legacy off the cricket field after becoming the highest individual taxpayer from Jharkhand and Bihar combined during the 2025-26 financial year.The disclosure was made on Thursday by Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Bihar-Jharkhand), Dr. D. Sudhakara Rao, while addressing the media in Ranchi.“The total collection from Bihar and Jharkhand during the financial year 2025-26 was around Rs 20,000 crore, of which Rs 12,000 crore was collected from Jharkhand alone,” Rao said, according to news agency PTI.

Officials said around 70 per cent of the total revenue comes from tax deducted at source (TDS).Among the corporations, the highest tax payers included Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and CMPDI.Officials admitted that mining activities in Jharkhand were affected by heavy rains during the financial year, which affected tax collection figures.“During the previous financial year, the mining activity was a bit affected due to heavy rains which affected the collection. We hope to cross Rs 20,000 crore mark in tax collection during the current financial year,” Rao said.
