Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu says the state government has taken measures to ensure adequate seed, fertilizer and irrigation support to farmers for the upcoming Kharif-2026 season.
“The government is introducing an ‘advance action plan’ to avoid inconvenience to farmers and ensure timely agricultural operations across the state,” Mr. Atchannaidu said on Friday.
The Andhra Pradesh State Seed Development Corporation would supply 7.46 lakh quintals of subsidized seed under the ₹294 crore scheme in 2026-27. Distribution of subsidized seeds of paddy, groundnut, millet and pulses would begin in phases from May 15 through Rythu Seva Kendras, he added.
Mr. Atchannaidu said all seeds supplied through AP Seeds underwent laboratory quality tests before distribution. Green manure seeds would also be supplied with a 50% subsidy to improve soil health.
There will be no shortage of fertilizers during the kharif season, he assured. Andhra Pradesh had 7.77 million tonnes of fertilizer stocks, including urea, DAP and complex fertilisers, he said, warning that strict action would be taken against anyone creating artificial shortage or resorting to overcharging.
The government has also completed a comprehensive irrigation plan in coordination with the water resources department. The release of water for cultivation would begin in phases from May 15, after checking reservoir levels and canal maintenance work.
Mr. Atchannaidu said the state had provided irrigation water to a record 99.35 lakh acres during the previous kharif season and assured that the government was fully prepared to support farmers this year as well.
